Michael Oakeshott (1901-1990) was, it has been said,
'the greatest political philosopher in the Anglo-Saxon tradition since Mill - or
even Burke'. He is best-known for his distinction between 'civil' and
'enterprise' association, for his attack on rationalism in politics, his
philosophy of history and his characterisation of the rule of law.

1993) This book collects a number of important critical and biographical
articles about Oakeshott written by friends and former pupils at the time of his
death. Contributors include Josiah Lee Auspitz, Russell Price, Ken Minogue, John
Casey, Tim Fuller, Jeffrey Hart, the late Elie Kedourie and Noel O'Sullivan. A
